polaris.tasks.ocean.single_column.shortwave_pen.ShortwavePen
- class polaris.tasks.ocean.single_column.shortwave_pen.ShortwavePen(component, indir)[source]
A single-column test of penetrating shortwave radiation over a range of Jerlov water types. Every run is driven by the same constant, uniform incident surface shortwave flux for 3 hours, so the incident energy is identical and only the vertical distribution of the heating differs.
Each water type gets a
jerlovrun, in which MPAS-Ocean’s two-band scheme and Omega’s three-band scheme are configured to absorb the flux identically. Under Omega each water type additionally gets amanizzarun, whose red and blue bands take distinct extinction coefficients, to show what the third band changes.The constructor builds the Omega superset of steps so component configuration can detect the required ocean I/O and model support. The steps are rebuilt for the selected ocean model in
configure().- __init__(component, indir)[source]
Create the test case
- Parameters:
component (polaris.tasks.ocean.Ocean) – The ocean component that this task belongs to
indir (str) – The directory the task is in
Methods
__init__(component, indir)Create the test case
add_step([step, subdir, symlink, run_by_default])Add a step to the task and component (if not already present)
configure()Build the steps now that the ocean model and the water types to run are known
remove_step(step)Remove the given step from this task and the component
set_shared_config(config[, link])Replace the task's config parser with the shared config parser
