Register a file the step has just written as one of its outputs

Most outputs are known at setup, but a step that plots what a simulation wrote does not know which plots it will make until it has read the simulation, since a run writes some subset of the fields it was asked for. Such a step registers each product as it writes it, which also keeps a plot and the data beside it from getting out of step with each other.

Parameters:

filename (str) – The name of the file, relative to the step’s work directory
