Compute the local east and north vectors at a given point on the sphere

Inputs

xnp.ndarray of type float

x-coordinate in Cartesian coordinates, typically of length nCells or nEdges for MPAS meshes

ynp.ndarray of type float

y-coordinate in Cartesian coordinates, typically of length nCells or nEdges for MPAS meshes

znp.ndarray of type float

z-coordinate in Cartesian coordinates, typically of length nCells or nEdges for MPAS meshes

returns:

• east (np.ndarray) – Local east vector in Cartesian coordinates, of same length as x,y,z

• north (np.ndarray) – Local north vector in Cartesian coordinates, of same length as x,y,z
